Privacy Policy
We believe privacy should be a default, not a premium feature. Here is exactly how we handle (and don't handle) your data.
1. Local-Only Processing
Your files never leave your device. We literally do not have a server that can accept your uploads.
fileprocessor.net is built on a client-side architecture. When you use our tools to compress an image, trim a video, or convert a document, all of the computational work happens within your own web browser utilizing WebAssembly and local JavaScript.
Because of this architecture:
- We do not upload your files to any remote server.
- We do not store, cache, or back up your files.
- We cannot view, analyze, or share your files with anyone.
Once you close your browser tab, all file data is instantly wiped from your device's active memory (RAM).
2. Data Collection
We don't ask for your personal information because we don't need it. No accounts, no email lists, no tracking.
We believe in data minimization. fileprocessor.net does not require you to create an account, log in, or provide any Personally Identifiable Information (PII) to use our core services. We do not collect your name, email address, physical address, or phone number.
If you choose to use our donation link to support the project, that transaction is handled entirely by a secure third-party payment processor (e.g., Stripe or PayPal). We do not collect or store your credit card information on our servers.
3. Analytics & Cookies
We use basic, privacy-respecting analytics to understand how many people visit our site and which tools are the most popular. This helps us decide what features to build next.
- We do not use invasive tracking pixels.
- We do not sell your browsing data to advertisers.
- We do not track you across other websites.
We may use local storage in your browser (similar to cookies) strictly for functional purposes, such as remembering if you prefer a dark mode theme or saving your recently used colors in the Color Picker tool. This data is kept solely on your device.
4. Security & Breaches
Hackers can't steal what we don't have.
The best way to secure user data is to simply not collect it. Because your files are processed entirely on your local machine, they are not vulnerable to database breaches, server hacks, or man-in-the-middle attacks targeting our infrastructure.
However, you are responsible for maintaining the security of your own device, operating system, and web browser.
5. Policy Changes
We may update this Privacy Policy occasionally to reflect new tools or changes in global privacy regulations. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page and updating the "Last Updated" date.
You are advised to review this Privacy Policy periodically for any changes. Changes to this Privacy Policy are effective when they are posted on this page.
